In cooperation with the legal team from the GLATZOVÁ & Co. law office and under the patronage of Justice Minister Jiří Pospíšil, a conference entitled "Year of Effect of the Insolvency Act" was held on 30.10.2008, the aim of which was to assess the first practical experience with the application of the new Insolvency Act.
The conference was opened by Mgr. Ing. František Steiner, Ph.D., Deputy Minster at the Economics Section of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic, who reviewed the operation of the new Insolvency Act. He was followed by JUDr. Bohumil Havel Ph.D., a member of the Government Legislative Council, with a discussion of the general fundamentals of the Insolvency Act, Ing. Martin Felenda, managing partner of our company, who spoke on the subject of a definition of insolvency (presentation), JUDr. Zdeněk Krčmář, a judge at the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic on the effects of commenced insolvency proceedings, JUDr. Martin Daničišin, a lawyer at Glatzová & Co., on the position of secured creditors, and Prof. Ing. Michal Mejstřík, CSc., from the Institute of Economic Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University on discharge of debts.
Participants in the panel included Ing. Štěpán Bláha, the insolvency trustee at the Pivovar Eggenberg, a.s. brewery, JUDr. Jarmila Fialová, director of the legal section at Raiffeisenbank and Mgr. Martin Berdych from the legal section of Komerční banka.
